Welcome to our new Blog

How fare thee? Welcome to our new Turning Leaves Blog. We look forward to hearing thoughts from all of you: book reviews, questions, advice, summer adventures, recipes, quotes, and much more. If any of you have suggestions for the blog, links you would like to add etc. let me know.

Huzzah, and Marry, l'faith to our wonderful 2008/2009 Officers. By my troth well done. Thank you and gramercy to all who contributed to our wonderful banquet Thursday evening. Thank you Clara Lee for hosting us in your beautiful home. Thank you Joan for the great book review and to our talented readers. An evening enjoyed by all. Huzzah!

Cindy's Rice Pudding

CREAMY RICE PUDDING- serves 4

Ingredients:

¾ cup uncooked white rice

2 cups milk, divided (I used 1 cup milk and 1 cup half and half)

1/3 cup white sugar

¼ teaspoon salt

1 egg, beaten

2/3 cup golden raisins (optional)

1 tablespoon butter

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

1. In a medium saucepan, bring 1 ½ cups water to a boil. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 20 minutes.

2. In another saucepan, combine 1 ½ cups cooked rice, 1 ½ cups milk, sugar and salt. Cook over medium heat until thick and creamy, 15 to 20 minutes. Stir in remaining ½ cup milk, beaten egg and raisins. Cook 2 minutes more, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla. Serve warm.
